Jobs
As advertised in the Newcastle Herald
We are currently seeking an experienced MOWER OPERATOR/Supervisor

Above award rate
4 day week negotiable
Responsibilities and rewards will continue to grow

TO APPLY
You must apply by email. The job requires you to be well presented and a good communicator, so use the email to present yourself well. You will not use AI to write the email, because you are not the sort of person who wants to be caught doing something underhand. Tell us your work experience and a bit about yourself, age, where you live, any references, and so on.
I wish to apply for the position advertised on your website ...

THE JOB
You will be doing daily mowing runs four days a week, perhaps five
This will sometimes include industrial gardening, see below for definition
As the work load grows there will be other duties
- acting as leading hand in teams of 2 or 3
- scheduling
- quoting

READ ALL THE BELOW FIRST

IF

.. you are strong, smart and resourceful, and like working outdoors, EKO could be a great opportunity for you.
Strong means able to do work such as four two-hour spells of brushcutting in a day, or operate a ride-on mower for 8 hours more-or-less non-stop, or mow six or seven domestic lawns in a day
And do it all again the next day.
Note: it isn't always quite as hard as that.
BUT please do not assume you can do it. Many people who try it, can't. Don't waste your time and ours. Of course, if you are experienced, you will know.
Smart and resourceful. There is an ignorant idea out there that mowing is child's play. In the real world you will often be working alone and you need to be able to think creatively and to shoulder responsibility. You need to present well, deal with the public, understand and care for expensive machines, maintain a high standard and good productivity through the day, and solve many problems. To do all that well you have to be smarter than the average bear.
Great opportunity means above award wages from the start, with responsibilities and rewards increasing.

We offer two types of position:

Mower operator, casual
Required:
Drivers Licence
Ability to work alone
Or with others
Able to do industrial gardening (maintenance of public gardens, see below)
Able to reverse a trailer
Experience with: walk-behind mowers, zero turn ride on mowers, edge cutters, whippersnippers, blowers

Mower operator/Supervisor
Required:
All of the above
PLUS
leadership skills and ambition.
You will mow and garden, sometimes alone,
but also supervise others
and learn skills such as quoting
machine maintenance
and safety management.
This is not a static position, responsibilities and rewards will continue to grow.

Industrial gardening means using hedge trimmers, sprays, whippersnippers, blowers to trim and tidy plants and control weeds in garden beds, and in cracks in concrete and bitumen tarmac around buildings and in car parks. To many clients, traditional gardening on hands and knees is just not affordable.
